Jog-a-Thon
In regards to the Jog-a-thon that will be held this Friday, September 25 at 8:30am on the track, I've placed another donation form in your child's cubby for tomorrow should you have misplaced your other one and would like to donate. PLEASE dress your child appropriately on Friday (closed-toed tennis shoes, comfortable clothes, and NO dresses for the girls!) Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Let's get ready to run and raise money for our school!
On Death and Dying
We have had several deaths in our students' families lately, so I asked Ms. Dupes--our librarian--if she had any books on death and dying. We have been discussing about losing their grandparents and that it's ok to be sad. We think happy memories of our loved ones. We have been reading stories about it as well to help the kiddos learn and cope.
Scholastic Books
Two more flyers have gone home. The deadline to submit your orders is Oct. 16. You can purchase them online with the code that is written on the flyer/email, or turn your money into me. Thank you for encouraging your kiddos to read and for participating in Scholastic. I cannot stress enough the importance and impact reading has on learning. Starting October, the Pizza Hut certificates will go out to those students who FULLY complete their reading logs. Remember to write a sentence of your favorite book and why AND draw a picture of your favorite part on the back. For the remainder of September, your child will receive a FREE BJ's restaurant kid's meal :)
Suggested Donations
Sheet protectors and thin whiteboard markers, please. Thank you!!! :)
Reflections Program Theme: Let Your Imagination Fly
Every year, the PTA organizes an art contest that allows your child to ignite their creativity. We will set aside some time in class for this activity. If your child wishes to create their masterpiece at home, I will be sending home the entry form along with the theme, which is "Let Your Imagination Fly." There are different types of media (dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.) We will most likely be creating a visual arts project in class. I HIGHLY encourage you to have your child enter, and--if you have time at home--let them create a masterpiece. The possibilities are endless ;) Deadline: Nov. 6
Have a wonderful week, and let's continue to make it a great year!
Kindly,
Miss Fiscus
