A Tribute to my Dad
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!
Thank you for stepping up as a father to Chad and me even though you didn’t have to. Coming into our lives at a time when I was barely learning to walk and talk, you instantly became the father figure that we needed. Your selflessness, commitment, love, and support mean more than I can express, and I know Chad is forever grateful as well.
Thank you for raising us as your own. I will always remember when I was supposed to see “Mr. Roger”, I wanted you to come with me; Mom said I held your hand tight, not wanting to let go haha It must have been an awkward moment for you, but it just goes to show who I considered my father at such a young age.
Thank you for exposing me to slot car and RC racing. I have such fond memories of digging in the dirt, playing under the bleachers, turn marshaling for you when you were up to race (even though the guys sometimes probably got irritated that I was slow hehe), and frustrating those men while I calmly and patiently passed them in my rainbow buggy car or pink and white slot car haha
One of my proudest trophies that I display in my classroom is that slot car racing trophy. I won that racing series out of I don’t even know how many men. While they were mostly in their ages of 30-50’s, I was the only girl and one of the few kiddos, 7 yrs. old, passing them in the lanes, making them angry sometimes haha
I don’t know if they made that trophy just for me, but I treasure it. Plus, my 30+ plaques I won for TQ and 1st-3rd place. I want to make a table out of it to display one day…maybe in our guest house! I treasure that buggy in my classroom as well as my blue truck with the volleyball, soccer, and other stickers on it :)
Thanks for always attending my soccer, volleyball, basketball, T-ball, & baseball games, and attending my academic achievements. Thanks for coaching my basketball teams, and taking us to 1st place with the Laker Girls :)
Thanks for supporting me in All-Stars basketball and soccer. I will always remember when the referee kicked you out of the game and made you sit on the top of the hill at our All-Star soccer game in Victorville. At the time, we were embarrassed and mad at you for having a temper; looking back, it shows how much you care, and I appreciate your love and support.
Thank you for always giving us all the love you have to support us. When you got laid off, I didn’t even know we were struggling from paycheck to paycheck. Actually, I thought we were rich with our .99 cent happy meals and Frosty’s at Wendy’s, and loading our freezer with .39 cent cheeseburgers from McDonald’s for our meals.
You continue to work your butt off for us, and even though you are off work again now due to your ailments, with back, arm, and other problems, you continue to do your best.
Sammy and Terra are lucky to be your blood daughters, but I know you don’t have to be blood-related to be my father. You are the epitome of what I envision of a father…and more. Thank you for giving us, kids, unconditional love. I know we could be a bit hard to handle at times and we can push your buttons, but you always continue to love us anyway.
I hope you enjoy life despite your pains and frustrations; I hope you enjoy the new patio you and Mom have been working so hard on. You and Mom deserve the BEST life imaginable because you two have given us your everything to make our lives the best it can be.
I am proud to be your daughter. When people compliment how awesome I am, I owe it mostly to you and Mom. Without your wisdom, guidance, support, love, and care, I wouldn’t be the awesome person that I am today hehe :)
My heart is full knowing that I have the best father that I could have dreamed of. I do my best to show my appreciation, love, and care, but it will never seem enough. I hope you know that I will always be forever grateful to have you in my life. Enjoy this special day, and I hope the rest of your days are filled with peace, love, laughter, and joy. Thank you. I love you.
With Endless Love from one of your daughters,
